How single elimination works
Each match has one winner who advances; the loser is out. The number of rounds equals logâ‚‚(team count), rounded up. For non-power-of-two team counts, top seeds get a bye in round one. We handle all of that automatically.
Seeded vs random
By default, teams are randomly placed in the bracket — perfect for casual play. Toggle 'Use input order as seeding' to keep your top seeds apart so they only meet in the final rounds.
Frequently asked questions
What's the maximum number of teams?
64 teams (6 rounds). For larger fields, run a group stage first and bring the top finishers into the bracket.
How do byes work?
When the team count isn't a power of two, the bracket is padded to the next power of two. Empty slots become byes — the team paired with a bye automatically advances to round two.
Can I correct a mistake?
Yes. Click the same team again to un-pick them, or use 'Reset' to clear all winners. Renaming a team in the bracket updates it everywhere.
